Wanda vision

Wanda Vision is Top 5 in the MCU

On this week’s podcast, Tobin and I give our thoughts on Disney’s new series Wanda Vision. If you haven’t already checked it out, stop reading this and give it a watch! If you continue reading or listen to our podcast, beware there are spoilers.

Disney knows what they’re doing with Marvel and I love every single moment of it. The ability of all the talent working on the shows for Disney Plus is coming through. I never thought I would fall in love with the relationship between Wanda and Vision but I am more than happy to be wrong.

The storytelling is incredibly creative in telling Wanda’s / Vision’s arc after the events in Endgame. Following the sitcom tropes through each decade is wonderfully done. One trope was the pacing of the episode and pauses for commercials. The “commercials” within the episode were so genuine that I felt as if they were indeed taking a break from the show. Major props to the design and set teams as they transport the viewer to each decade within the episodes. Every detail was given attention from clothes, architecture, audience laughs, breaking the 4th wall, and many more.

Final Thoughts

Wanda and Vision each have an opportunity to flush out their characters now as they haven’t had much opportunity earlier in the MCU. Having lived difficult lives, the series shows the toll it has taken on our heroes. It is refreshing to see how these characters process the trauma instead of suppressing and “powering” forward. There is a psychological price to pay when living such an extreme life and I think Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany display this beautifully.

By the end of the season, I fell in love with Wanda and Vision when I didn’t care too much for them before. I can not wait for more content to be dropped in the MCU and my worries about the episodic style have been put to rest.

What was your experience with the show? Did you enjoy it as much as we did or did you think it was absolute garbage? If you haven’t had a chance to watch it, check it out here.
